Why are you looking at Specialist production class? Andy Russell has been campaigning his G15 in Series Production up to 1400 since God was a boy......

Were enough of them produced to be eligible for Series Production?

That's what I thought. Now that Specialist Production need ROPS, it is important that that question is asked and if the competitor cannot evidence the numbers, then it needs ROPS.

The consequences of a serious incident and a vehicle not complying with the safety requirements can only jeopardise the sport.

Renny,

just wanted to check about the sunroof question, which started this thread, as we seem to have gone a bit off tangent with the ROPs being raised.

I'd asked "What are the regs to look at regarding a webasto type full length sunroof on a specialist/series production sports car?

Am I right in thinking the area where the sunroof is will need to be blanked over with a panel?"

I wasn't sure where to find that detail in the"blue book", it doesn't matter now about the original car my mate had been thinking about. But before he looks at another sports or saloon car, I assume a factory fitted steel roof is OK and would not require any alterations? But if it's a glass panel type then if it's window filmed with 100 micron film is that OK and if it's a webasto type is that a bigger problem?

Steve

I can't see anything in the Blue Book that requires this.

No neither could I, but when I've seen cars at circuit races and single venue rallies some have had blanking panels fitted. So I wondered if that applied to hillclimbs as well?

I don't believe it does.

Indeed, but when God was a boy the regulations (specifically the minimum production requirements) were different. A G15 does not meet the minimum production requirements for series any more (it used to in modified series, just as Clans and Davrians used to).

A few years ago S&HSC pulled the rug out from under Imp based kit cars and lumped then in with the Westfields et al. in modified. My Davrian hasn't been seen in competition since. Not that the shoulder on my spanner wielding arm is working properly at the moment, so I couldn't do any serious work on it, even if I wanted to.
