Its a great idea though and im all for new blood in the sport.
I don't think it's necessarily aimed at the BHC/Mid A permit meetings and the like.

These are only proposals from the S&HC Sub committee and have to go to Safety, Regional and Council for approval so don't hold your breath!
Given falling entry levels and fewer newcomers due to the cost og reaching your first start line it is hoped this will make it rather like when I started back in 1989.

11.9.1.4. Forced induction equivalence 1.7.

Is this the thin end of the wedge?

Surely it should be 1.4 seeing as the proposal to change to 1.7 was ditched?

All relying on Honesty, anything more than a hammer and 2 screwdrivers in the tool kit and you must be cheating

The proposed regs were written at the same time, if 1.4 is to be retained then the standard class proposal will also be modified as required.

All grass roots / club motorsport is based 100% on honesty!

The proposal is not for a Standard Production Class, but a Standard Production Category, Clubs/Championships can define Classes in their own SRs, but the cars must meet the safety requirements of the relevant Category. For example, in the SLS Championship run by Knockhill, the Classes are based on Power/Weight, with a division for Road Going, Modified and Libre categories within each Class. In the last couple of rounds we've had a McLaren 650S in the came Class as a 420hp/t Subaru Impreza. The Subaru is in Libre category, the McLaren is Road Going.

Having just bought a new race suit tonight this class has got to be a way of attracting new people in.....the absolute cheapest I could find new worked out at a few pence under £250 once delivered to my house. Utterly ridiculous given what I drive and what a lot of other people out there have who have had to buy similar. You can buy a car with an MOT to compete in for less if you shop around a bit!!! I am not suggesting you'd win or even do well in such a vehicle but dear god.....£250 for an unnecessary bit of kit.....that would put a lot of people off. Bring back Proban suits for road cars I say!
