Are pickups bodies allowed

Been offered an unfinished project , SHP pickup shell and frame , would this be eligible in sports libre ?

J 5.20.6 would apply -

Not be a vehicle of commercial type, such as a
van/pick-up which was initially intended solely for
commercial or goods carrying, unless permitted by
SRs.

I saw that rule, but as it was built by SHP as a race series car was never built as a commercial vehicle and no v5 only passport would that rule apply, I'm sure I've seen a Mini pickup run at Wiscombe

But that's been waived before on the circuits, there have been vans used in the VW championship in the past.

A Mini pick-up shaped, mid-engined, sports libre car was denied a competition log book and the builder had to fit an estate type back in order to compete.

A chap turned up at Aintree last year with a "Special Saloon" Mini. It had originally been created as a Mini Pick-up but wasn't allowed into speed events in Scotland. The creator sold it and the new owner who brought it to Aintree tacked on a Traveller roof etc and it was accepted. So create a backend that makes it into an estate and the jobs a good un.

I imagine it wasn't waived - more likely someone asked the organisers to allow commercials in the SR's. I've seen it done on a road rally - one of the members of the organising club wanted to run a pick-up and the organisers helpfully included it in the SR's.

Yes, that's what I meant, they altered the Championship SR's to allow a van in.

So the answer is simple - get some clubs on board and get the relevent clause in the SRs.
