I have a spare set of solenoids on a three way manifold if that's any use to you...

If you want simple, stick to a gear lever with basic spark cut system for full throttle up-shifts. Leave down-shifts fully manual.

But, pneumatic paddles are the way to go; just far from simple........

David has answered some of my questions and also made comparisons between air and solenoid systems for me to think about, I will cogitate on it

John, you can keep the costs down to a sensible level if you have a look round the internet

If you want good quality but low cost paddles, I highly recommend these simulator paddles from Ascher Racing

0.8l Paint Ball bottles can be bought from various outlets, but these are fairly popular with the sprinters

You'd still need some plastic hose and fittings, and a pressure regulator to drop the 3000psi from the paint ball bottle down to 7bar for the valves, but prices can be kept down.

My 0.8l bottle drops approx. ~500lbs of pressure after a full days racing (2 practice and 4 timed), and I use the gears more when queuing than I do on a run, so if you have a helper to push the car, you'd use far less compressed air over a weekend.

Plays Kool also supply all the bits. If you don't want the faf of having a dive tank to fill the onboard tank you can simple use a compressor instead.

For me a full kit of bits is better, living far out in the back of beyond makes bidding on the bay of flea impossible and scratching around for that last missing bit frustrating, I can make bits here in Kano, but don't have any facility in the UK and very little time when I'm there, I'm being swayed toward the air option

Speak to Luke @ Plays Kool and they should be able to fit it and set it to work for you.
