I agree David. I can't risk spending £1500 (half cage, hard top, harness and seat) to then find myself excluded from events

can you not try and get written confirmation from the MSA on this issue? as you say its for safety reasons.

I realise this is a lost cause asking them but you never know you might get an answer from them?

I thought of that Simon but also felt it might be a waste. Worth an email, I guess!

I've always found the Technical Dept to be quite helpful. Tell them what you want to do & why and quote the regs you want the clarification on. You might be surprised.

Thanks again, I'm going to see what they can do. I'll prep myself first with the regs (as per my original post)

If MX5 hard tops were available from the factory, I really can't see a problem. Don't think I'd too much of an issue with a TRL Lane bar including a diagonal.

There'd be no issue running a hardtop in addition to the soft top, just that I can't legally remove the soft top.

I don't quite understand your second point, here's a GCF rollbar, it's similar to the TR Lane. Are you saying that the lack of rear triangulation wouldn't bother you?

Spoke to Joe and he's agreed to look at the document that I've prepared which illustrates the problem. I'll keep you updated.
