I think Sports libre has typically been where cars that already have covered wheels have been put & I think it depends on whether its a Supersports car or whether its a racing car, to be honest I got a bit lost myself trying to understand the blue book & direction from the MSA, ultimately as long as we could race I wasn't too concerned with the details.

We're racing with Shenstone & District Car Club in class 6a, we've passed scrutineering at the events & we have the MSA passport, if we go to other events & they want to put us in with the 1000cc cars or any other class I don't mind as long as we can run

The limitations of the overall car concept dictate that we're unlikely to upset the existing front runners in any class but the car is good fun to drive, its quick enough to get your attention & in the event of an "off" its super safe for the occupant & cheap to repair

Ace. Lovely to see something different and this is still one of the great things about sprints and hillclimbs.

My Lola nearly was refused a Log Book because 1" of tyre protruded beyond the wheel arches of the full body.

I'm sure the rule is the wheel has to be totally covered by the body viewed from above.

In years gone past I've seen car put in Libre if they do not comply with another class entered. The 'offender' is pleased just to run the day, the Libre boys had no say.

Chain drive was discounted as we wanted a short input/output distance to keep the wheelbase short so we designed & manufactured our own gear drive system, initially with a solid axle but more recently updated to include a Quaife ATB diff.
