Roll Bars Single Seaters

Under Rule 1.6.3, (M.S.A. Blue Book) Page 162, The Rollbar Must Be Of A Minimum Dimension of 42.4 Dia/2.6mm (Wall Thickness)...Also if a Single Rear Brace Is Fitted, It Must Be The Same Diameter As The Rollbar. This Rule Renders Most Pre (Approx 2005 Era) Single Seaters, Absolutely And Instantly Illegal, As Most Simply Do Not Comply....And Never Have. Since This Rule Being Implemented (Confirmed By Msa) In 1995....Also Confirmed Sub Section 1.6.4 Has Absolutely Nothing To Do With Rule 1.6.3. How Can The M.S.A Explain How On This Basis All Cars, Since 1995-To Date, Have Been Allowed To Compete Across All Areas Of UK Motorsport, Illegal Under There Own Written Rule, Produced, In There Own Blue Book.

I think that there is provision to submit a roll over bar design for destructive or calculated approval to an approved assessor who in this country is MIRA. Prior to this a Certified Engineer could submit calcs. to the MSA for an approval certificate for any bar that did not comply with the standard roll bar I can only assume that one or other of those things have been done for those not 42 x 2.6

Good strong point ref calcs, However be in no doubt whatsoever, if your Single Seater Roll Bar dimensions do not meet with (Rule1.6.3.) With Rear Brace Bar as listed above. No Vehicle Passport If Required, Will Be Issued, As A Direct Result. Will This Now Render All Log Books Previously Issued. Not Meeting This Rule Obsolete,...Many Marques Of Single Seater, Now Out Of Manufacture, Competed With Over Decades, Also Must Now Be In Doubt.

Where did you get this information from ? as I'm aware of at least one log book that has been issued in the last week or two where the roll bar complied with S.1.6.4

Information M.S.A Blue Book, Scrutiner Whilst Inspecting Car Measuring Roll Bar /Rear Brace(With Vernier) And Confirming Rule Direct With M.S.A......Result As Above=Refusal Of Vehicle Passport=Rule 1.6.3, (When Valid Points/Common Sense Issues Pointed Out) Answer Can Not Comment Further, Only Interested In Rule 1.6.3....

I do know of a recent failure with an ex circuit race Jedi that applied for a passport to go sprinting and hillclimbing and was failed.
The most illogical thing is that if you make a roll bar and strut from 42.4mm diameter tube is how to make a reasonable attachment of that size tube onto your 1" square tube space frame chassis, even it it were now legal it would bodged engineering.
