Massively looking forward to it Steve, Midland championship again too ! Need to get some time at Loton aswell keen to learn that hill.

Next on the list while the engine is away was the seat. This kevlar seat weighs in at a nice 3.8kg but was a little worse for wear after 27yrs of use.

After messing around with another seat that just wouldnt fit we decided to send the Collins seat off to Custom coach trimmings (Not far from Prescott) for a retrim. We also asked for a slit for a 5 point harness to be added as we were fed up with 4 points harnesses raising. A couple of weeks later we had a fresh comfy retrimmed/re foammed seat back.
The Collins badge reattached also, this was a seat sold by Rally driver Phil Collins. He ran a Rally shop out of Hereford in the late 80s so something Reg Phillips bought thats been with the car ever since.

Seat all fitted and a new Schroth 5 point Harness.

As the car runs a be1 box its an uplift for reverse. There was a very small lever mounted to the floor for this but was a 2 handed job to operate and being strapped in not easy to reach.
So a small 2 finger Bmx brake was used instead. Simple and works great.
We also moved the digi Dash towards the driver so you're able to press the start button while being strapped in.

Hi
What a interesting 205!
I am interested in the pre heater system your using does it heat the whole system including the radiator plumbed in like you have it to your header and stat housing? also does it circulate through the pump / stat ok?

Thanks Dan

It will be great to see this car back out again soon, it's always fascinated me. And really nice to learn a little more about it. Thanks Darren.

Usually if you 't' into the flow and return somewhere it just works and the entire system including the rad is heated, most race engines don't use a 'stat, so the issue doesn't arise. The integral pump is surprisingly powerful, mine happily circulates (via two 'y' connectors) two separate systems as my TKD V8 has two unconnected water systems/rads.

Basically as above Dj mini. It works very well and the car has run with one since 1997.
Here's a clip of it should give you an idea how it works.
https://youtu.be/bp9XRL6Ro4U

We did leave the car with the carbon bonnet on show at the time it seemed a good idea. As Dan was passing from Vanguard wraps awhile ago we asked him to cover the bonnet. Its made it look a lot better as from snaps it did look odd.

I will update more when I can but my Dads pretty poorly at the moment so car stuff has taken a back seat.

The legendary variable trumpets on the Throttle bodies.
Works off an air bottle and electrical air valves. All very high tech via Richards own Ecu system.

Note this was when we first bought the car.
Springs added to Throttle assy and carb orings on the Tbs removed.
Still waiting on the pistons to be machined before the rebuild.

Ive managed to track down the 2 magazines the car was featured in (CCC magazine) 1994
In one Patrick Watts the Touring car driver takes to shelsley walsh and competes in the 205 against Willem Toet.
