Saw his company on tv awhile ago in Idris Elba's TV show "No limits". Where Idris did the 'Flying Mile' UK land speed record in a Bentley along a beach. They fitted a roll cage into one of the Audis at the start of the show before changing to the Bentley.

I'm still alive!

That RS6 was my first project, 3 days after moving in to the unit! I had a 1.5m x 1.0m workbench, two angle grinders, a box-pan folder, and a TIG welder. It was a challenge to say the least.. an FIA-spec T45 cage designed from scratch (as nothing existed off the shelf) and installed in 7 days. Stripping that car down took two! Not to mention the fact that it was being filmed, so there was a lot of "Cameron, can you just step back out of shot and offer that up again?" "Just once more, from a different angle." "Just once more!"

Here he is with (a very disapproving) Ari Vatanen!

Some people might have seen my for sale thread, so it only seems right to post in here and give a bit more of the story.

I basically started up with zero money (guess where it all went!) and no safety net, because I was given a contract for some prototypes that could see me through most of the first year and it seemed like too good an opportunity to miss. However, this all blew up around the time I signed the lease for the unit - I don't know if the guy was scamming us, or being scammed himself, but I and a very good friend ended up in pretty disastrous situations and (as far as I know) the guy involved hasn't been seen or heard of since.

The money from that TV show saw me through the first Quarter, and some design work and roll cage installs kept me fed and housed, but other than that I was totally broke. I ended up contracting as an engineer again back in October and have been doing that since, but am still totally broke. I've been thinking pretty hard recently about when it's likely I'll even be able to think about spending money on this car again, and it's likely to be at least 2 more years until that's possible!

So it's come down to this: I'd love to keep the car and not waste the time & effort I've invested, but I've also invested a huge amount of money in it which would be very useful if I want my business to grow and succeed. At this point in my life I value doing what I love for a living (especially after recently going back to a desk job) and this invested cash could be transferred to developing my business and creating some great opportunities. The sensible thing to do now would be to free up that money and not let it sit in a workshop for 2-3 more years, while I save up even more money to sink in to it.

I have a great project starting soon for a customer, which will actually be quite similar to this! I have his permission to post a build thread for it online, so there will be plenty of 205-related reading & pics in the near future. Sadly it just won't be to do with this one getting finished!

Just noticed the Drenth box is up for sale on racecarsdirect, came straight here to see if there was an explanation. Best of luck with your business endeavours Cameron, looking forward to seeing the customer projects you have lined up.

Best of luck with your business and i hope you raise the cash to continue pushing forward.
Having followed your 205 project for the past few years i'm quite sure your eye for detail, logical work practice and skill set will do you well.
Maybe we will see another project in the future.
Luke
