July Harewood

Despite the forecasts the weather held up over the two days apart from a heavy shower late afternoon on Saturday.
On Sunday we had some superb hillclimbing with Scott Moran winning both run-offs as he came under pressure from Jos Goodyear. There were three new class records with a 1600 Racing Car class being a particularly exceelnt battle. Goodyear set a new record on his first class run and then Lee Adams regained his record just a dozen or so runs later. After lunch Goodyear once more set a new record but Adams failed to respond.
Jerry Sturman and I chatted on air about the number of drivers who had broken the 50 second barrier at Harewood. Having cross checked my records it looks like at the start of the day we had just three drivers in the "Harewood 49 Club" - Scott Moran, Martin Groves and Trevor Willis. Joining them were Roger Moran and Jos Goodyear.

Steve you're forgetting that it was Willem who did the first sub 50 run at Harewood.

Martin.

I don't think it slows that much for corners....
Watching it at Doune and Loton the cornering speeds are immense ....

You only had to stand at the top of the hill and watch the raptor through the esses and up to the entry to farmhouse to see that it was considerably more nimble and responsive in the corners.

Both Scott and Roger were visibly fighting the car through the slow speed corners.

Quiet right, I hadn't highlight Willem's record breaking time as it was broken on the very next run.

So that means the list should read Willem Toet, Martin Groves, Scott Moran, Trevor Willis, Jos Goodyear and Roger Moran.

i noticed that too but as said you can see how much faster it is in the corners.

the little stream on saturday morning was causing a few bum holes to expand though, i knew there was a reason i ran a "not a real driver" FWD car
