Optimum tyre size?

I am building a Metro modprod which will have about 220bhp with some ground effects.
It looks like most folks in this clas are using 7-8" wide tyres, but I think 9-10" would be better and should be able to be fitted under the wide arches without serious offset issues.
Has anyone tried 10" wide tyres on a 2litre Fwd modprod? Is the over-tyred, if there even is such a thing??

I dont know about optimal tyre size for a mod prod metro but do know you can oversize.

For several reasons including weight thus rotational mass and change of direction physics, ability to heatup and or stay warm and ability to load the tyre sufficiently to get it into the tarmac.

I'd start with what you know works then go from there in a controlled manner on a test day.
