If you are bringing a car I hope you permission to bring it was applied for a while back as mine only arrived 1 week before it went in the box and the shippers won't take it without. Other thing is be careful what value you put on the car as they charge you 10% of the value GST tax on everything you take with you. Can't speak for Victoria hills (Dacia1 in Melbourne is your man) but my Empire went to a bloke over there and he used it at Mt. Cotton. Apart from bumpy tracks to contend with there other hazards, at the SA state championships last w/e the start line marshal told me to look out for 2 Kangaroos that had been seen near the top of the hill! I'll PM you with other info.
Graham

There is an asbestos problem with imported cars now, look VERY hard into that before you make a final decision.

Sell up and buy something suitable when you get back to Aus might be the easiest path Matt.

Not a terribly useful comparison, but I did take my 1960's Land Rover over (through Sydney) back in the 1990's. AQIS was several hundred dollars at the time, although I had steam cleaned the thing before loading, quarantine involved spraying with herbicides and organophosphates. They also insisted I dealt with the oil leakage (really, really obsessed about it for some reason), obtaining a WOF within 14 days. All was done under a Carnet, so entirely different, but all hellishly expensive at the time. The Carnet security was based on a 'value' derived using some perverse ideas.

It came back here with a Holden straight 6 cylinder in it :-)

Shipping (at the time) was £800 each way, insured. A hassle-free experience.

Personally, I'd sell the cars, less hassle, probadefinitely less cost.

Our Mallock Mk32B is still available at $35.000, the Gould GR55B is long gone.
