Which data logger?

Hi

Thinking about adding some logging to the car but have zero experience with anything like that. Don't want to spend loads and doesn't need to be over complicated but it needs to be pretty good. What are the options and I suppose the more sensors that are added the price goes up.

Any suggestions would be great

Thanks

the question is what do you want to know? for me i just look at speed braking and acceleration so use a qstarz that is just the size of a matchbox and a simple pc software to download.

I've used a few. Motec is superb, but Aim is very good but as dopdog says it depends on what your wanting to know. I like engine info as well.

Good point Simon, i think ide like to see damper movement, loads etc but it might be too much to understand, so maybe a simple version might be better to start with?

Cheers

What car, what engine, what ecu etc ?

engine or vehicle logging, or both ?

single seater, GSXR 1000cc running on DTA S100

I think just vehicle logging for now.

Thanks

The DTA should cover anything engine related you want to log already.

So for the other, something like the Race Technology would do well, as it'll already offer things like GPS and accelerometer data before you look into external sensors for the likes of suspension movements etc.

Or some race type dashes can combine the ecu data with other external sensors, so everything is logged in once place which is much handier. Although they can be expensive.
